eBay Sales

My sales are horrible right now. But I haven’t listed in almost two weeks. Since I knew that would be gone for 3 days in Vegas I didn’t really want anything to sell. I have three day shipping time on my listings (I can’t commit to one day shipping) but I still like to get my stuff out right away. I did have 5 things to mail when I got back. Four are on their way to their new owners. One I can’t find. That is so frustrating. I’m going to have to tear up my house tonight to find it.

I sold the Little Einsteins Pat Pat Rocket for $75.00 plus shipping this week. I was able to mail it right before I left for my trip so it should have arrived already. These are such a good, quick seller.

My only other good sale this past week was for two vintage Barbie dolls. I purchased them at the same time as the vintage Ken’s friend doll I mentioned here. These dolls were in bad condition. The Barbie was missing most of its hair and the Skipper doll had her bangs cut. I put them on auction for $15.00 and thought I would be lucky to get a bid. Final bid was for $57.56 plus shipping. It amazes me what people will pay for old toys. I always look for vintage Barbies when I’m out shopping. Unfortunately this is only the second time I have found them.

Now that I’m back from vacation it’s time to get to work. My vacation was great. Vegas was so hot! It was nice to be able to do adult things since my Princess stayed with Grandma. Drinking, dancing and gambling. But I missed my baby so much I called home every hour. Everyone who went on the trip are eBay sellers and our sales paid for our trip. Even when in Vegas if one of us picked up the tab for dinner or anything else we each Paypal that person our part of the bill. It is so easy. And it feels like you are spending “real” money since it doesn’t come from your bank account.

Since I haven’t listed and barely sold lately I am setting a goal for myself this week. I have Disneyland trip in two weeks I need to pay for. So my goal is to list 40 items this week and sell $150.00. Wish me luck!

Yard Sale Finds

I went to so many yard sales this morning I lost count. There was a community sale that one of my co-workers called me about this morning (everyone knows I love yard sales and I sell on eBay. I'm not shy about it). I packed everyone in the car (mom, nephew and Princess) and off we went. There must have been about 15-20 in this one neighborhood. But we must have gotten there too late because pickings were slim. I was able to purchase about a dozen character plush for a quarter each. Even if I only make a few dollars on them I don't mind. They were cheap and plush is so easy to list and mail. My only other purchase were 4 vintage dolls.

Here is one of them. He is a Barbie MOD Talking Brad Doll. He doesn't talk, he wasn't in great condition and he didn't have his original clothes. The same doll with original clothes sold recently for $35 so I figured I would list him for $20. Apparently that was a great price because he sold in less then a minute. You read that right. Less then a minute. He's on his way to Oregon now. Bye Brad. I still have to research the other dolls I bought. Hopefully they will be a fast turn around too.

After the neighborhood yard sales we stopped to get a bite to eat before heading to another part of town. My phone rang and I knew I should have ignored it. It was work. They needed me to come in. I hate when responsibility interrupts my play time. So after finishing our food we head home. On the way there we stopped at one more garage sale. And boy am I happy we did. Look what I found:

Little Einsteins Pat Pat Rocket complete with all 4 figures. I've only found one before. It sold for $55 but it only had one figure. I'm hoping this one sells quickly for a good amount. I have my fingers crossed.

I hope everyone else had a successful shopping weekend.

Maybe I Should Have Bought More

I’m sure we have all done this in the past. You see something and aren’t sure how well it will sell. Do you buy it or not? I usually do as long as the price is right. A few weeks ago I went to a garage sale. All clothing was 50 cents. Great price but none of it was name brand so I grabbed only two tops. I figured for a $1.00 investment I should be able to make something on them. I was planning on putting them in a lot but realized once I got home that the shirts were not the same size. So I listed them each for $12.00 and thought “these will never sell”. Well sell the both did and within a week of listing. I should have bought more. I didn’t make a lot of money but they were a quick sale. And that’s what I need right now. Here is the top that sold. It is really cheap material but a big size so I think that helped.

This past week has been the slowest I have had since I started a store on eBay. I only sold $77.00. It makes me so sad I could almost cry. Don’t buyers know that I have a vacation to pay for? Hmm maybe I can put that on my listings. "Please buy my items. I'm going to go party in Vegas in a month and need gambling money". Probably won’t help though.

So I am setting another goal this week. That always seems to help. Like somehow envisioning my goal makes it somehow happen. So here it is:

Sell $250.00 (need to make up for last week)
List 30 items

After the disappointing week I’m not very motivated but I have to keep trying. So far I have already sold $15.00 and listed 5 items. And it’s only Monday.

Weekly Sales

I survived my birthday! It was touch and go there for a while. And I’m now over my pouting. I do have a great life and I wouldn’t change a thing about it.

This past week I sold 7 items for a total of $163.00. And it’s all going towards my Vegas in July trip. I can feel my fingers itching to get to those slot machines!

My favorite sale of the week was definitely this Dragon Tales play set. I bought it at a garage sale in January for $1.00. It finally sold this weekend for $40.00. I didn’t have the complete set which probably had something to do with it sitting for so long. I was so happy to see it go.

This wonderfully fun John Severson collection by Kahala shirt is on it’s way to Japan. I’ve never heard of the brand but I liked the look. It has a cool Tiki drink look going for it. It’s sold for $29.00 within a week.

The only other interesting sale of the week were these Kidrobot Kozik figures. I sold them in a lot of 11.They are random household items that are smoking. I am not in any way promoting smoking. I am promoting eBay sales. I picked them up at a garage sale about a month ago for $3.00. They sold for $30.00.

My trip is in a little over a month so I better get listing. I need more sales.

What I Sell On eBay

According to my niece I sell ugly things. Case in point:

I bought this just to prove that I could sell it. I paid $1.00 for it and sold it for $20.00. It’s a shirt with dogs playing pool on it! Who would actually wear this?! Apparently someone will. Or more then one person because I had seen a few completed on eBay. It’s a Dragonfly shirt just in case you want to buy one for your honey.

Example #2. I bought this sweater for $1.00. That’s when I was on my sweater kick back in January. I listed it with the word GORGEOUS in the title. Inside I was thinking “why would you want to wear a bulky sweater with vehicles all over it?” I listed it for $50.00 planning on listing it high for the first month and if it didn’t sell I would drastically drop the price. Well that was the plan. I forgot all about it and it sat since January listed BIN for $50.00. And guess what? It sold today. Buyer already paid. Am I the only one wondering who’s going to be wearing a sweater in May?

Maybe that’s my niche. Selling ugly pieces of clothing. But like I always tell my niece when she makes fun of me “I might be selling ugly things but at least I’m selling them.”

Oh and if you happen to like any of these items I didn’t mean to offend you. Please check out my other listings. I have lots of other ugly things, oops I mean unique clothing listed.

Weekly Sales

I have been neglecting eBay lately. And I thought for sure eBay would be upset with me and turn off my store “Open” sign. But shockingly they didn’t. This past week I sold $160.00 worth of merchandise. I am pleasantly shocked. Especially considering I haven’t listed in a couple of weeks. I was too busy getting everything ready of my Princess’ birthday party.

I sold 10 items for a total of $160. Well actually my total sales were $175 but I messed up on the shipping for one of my items that went international. I forgot to weigh it with all of the filler items in the box and it ended up weighing more then 4 lbs which meant it had to go priority. I ended making $30 instead of $45 on it. It was a large lot of Lion King figures I got for less then $1.00 so I’m more then happy with making $30 on them.

Here they are. Nothing special about them and I’m surprised they sold so quickly. But there were 50 of them.

I am known (or was before my mortgage and Princess) for paying hundreds of dollars for a purse. But even this sale shocked me. I wouldn’t have paid $30 for a used purse made out of seatbelts. But like I always say “if you list it, they will buy”. I sold this yellow Harveys seatbelt purse for $30. There was only one other yellow one listed so I might have been able to get more but it was dirty and I didn’t want to spend the time to clean it. I did take lots of pics and include descriptions of stains. I bought it for a quarter a few months ago and finally got around to listing it when I was in “Must raise money for my Princess’ birthday gift” crazy.

I was excited I finally sold my first coffee mug. I have read in several different blogs that these sell well. I decided to try it out. This one I bought as part of a lot of 3 for $1.00 and sold it for $12.00. I don’t know if I’m going to rush to buy more of these unless they are unique. Mugs are annoying to mail. You have to be careful packing them so they don’t break. I think I will stick to non-breakable clothing.

My baby loved her Dora themed party. She is the reason I sell on eBay. To make sure she never needs for anything. I have to remember that next time I find myself neglecting eBay again. And now back to listing.

Weekly Update

I reached my weekly goal!!!! I sold $175.00 my first week of my two week $300.00 goal. I am so happy. I started the week out really sloooooow and didn’t expect much. But I kept listing daily my goal of 5 items. I was very proud of myself because I hate listing (I know that’s not a good thing when I sell on eBay).

Week 1

Goal #1:

Sell $300 in two weeks. I sold $175 the first week so that leaves only $125.00 to reach my goal. And to make matters better my sister and mom are pitching in for my Princess’ gift so I only need to raise $150 and since I already sold $175 I have enough to buy her gift now. But I still am following through with my goal of selling $300.

Goal #2

List 5 items daily. I actually did this. I listed 35 new items this past week. For me that is a HUGE accomplishment. I’m going to keep it going this week.

My favorite sale of the week I think was this Dragon Fly shirt. It’s so UGLY!! I sold it for $17.00. I only paid $1 for it so that is a great profit. My niece always tells me I sell ugly stuff. That my might be true but at least they sell.

Great Sale

I don't list a lot of high value items. Most of my stuff sells around the $20-25.00 range. And I'm happy with that. I'm not looking to get rich (OK I'm looking but I haven't found the magic bean to grow my own money tree yet) just to supplement my income.

A few months ago I purchased a pair of mens Diesel jeans at the Goodwill. Jeans at my local Goodwills are $6.25. Once a week the store has a color tag that is 50% off that week. Usually I only buy jeans that have the 50% off color tag. But for some reason I decided I would buy these jeans FULL price. I know, shocking! And into the pile of "things to list" they went. I finally got around to listing them last month auction style. I started the auction at $25.00. I figured I would be happy with $18.75 if I only got one bid. So I waited

Day 1 several watchers.
Day 2 a few more watchers.
Day 3 a few more watchers.
Day 4 a bid. WOOHOO!!!
Day 5 well I'm not sure what happened day 5-7 because I went out of town and had no Internet access. I almost didn't survive.

When I finally got into 3G range for my IPhone I rushed to check to see what had closed and sold over the weekend. I was shocked to find out my little ole jeans sold for...$95.00!!! No that isn't a typo. Now don't go out and buy all the Diesel jeans you see no matter the price because I have sold other Diesel jeans before and they sold MUCH less then this. But for some reason this style sold for $95.00 to someone in Germany.

I sent off my invoice right away. On day 4 I sent out another reminder invoice. One day 5 the buyer decided he didn't want the jeans. He said that they were overpriced and he wanted me to cancel the transaction. Now this was right before Christmas and I didn't have time to deal with this. QAfter the holidays I thought about it and decided that I wouldn't fight it. I just cancelled the transaction. I was very sad and disappointed. But these things happen.

Last week I decided to relist my pants auction style. I wasn't expecting them to go anywhere near that price again so I started them at $35.00 this time. Well you will never believe how much they sold for. $111.50 to a buyer in Canada. And he already paid. Second time was a charm.

I guess sometimes I just get lucky.

eBay Sales

The past few weeks I haven't been listing a lot on eBay. My life has been crazy and eBay took a place on the back burner. But this past week I made an effort to list as much as possible every spare moment I got (which weren't many). My sales weren't incredible but I'm very happy with them.

This was actually a toy Muno (from Yo Gabba Gabba tv show) guitar I bought for my Princess at a garage sale around 6 months ago. I paid $1.00 for it.  She played with it off and on for the first month but then she got tired of it and it ended up in the bottom of the toy storage bin. I rescued it and listed it BIN for $15.00. It sold 2 days later.

These Lego Duplo train tracks I found in the bag of toys I bought this past weekend at a yard sale. There were 14 curved pieces. I had no idea if these would sell especially considering they were all curved pieces. They sold in 3 days for $10.00 BIN.

I have gotten into selling designer jeans. I'm not sure how this happened but they are sellingg well for me. I picked up this pair of Miss Me jeans for $4.00 at my local Goodwill. I had never sold Miss Me jeans before but from hearing my nieces talk I knew they were a good, and expensive, designer brand. This pair sold today auction for $29.00. Miss Me jeans are definitely going on my "Too Look For" list.

I also sold some Boyds bears for $12.99 that I paid $2.00 for  months ago (I'm glad to see them go), a Rainbow Brite Hammy Sprite Toy from the 80's sold for $10.00 that I bought for $0.50, a pair of True Religion jeans for $36.00 that I paid $6.00 for, a pair of Seven for all Mankind mens jeans I paid $3 dollars for sold for $24.99, and a lot of 4 My Little Ponys I paid $0.75 for sold for $6.00.

Total sales for the week $143.98. Out of pocket expense $18.25. That is a great sales week for me.

What To Sell on Ebay

This is a no brainer. We all know it's the holy grail of toys. And it's almost as hard to find at it would be the Holy Grail. I'm talking about Vintage Barbies.

I have been shopping at yard sales for many years and until a couple months ago I had never found any on my adventures. Then one ordinary Saturday morning I walk into someones garage and the first thing I see are FIVE vintage Barbies. I approached them slowly fearing they were a mirage. As I reached out for them I realized that they were very real and authentic vintage Barbies. I quickly grabbed them before anyone else could and asked the woman selling them "How much?" She starts out by telling me that they are very old. She played with them when she was young. That vintage Barbies were very collectible... and on and on. The more the spoke the higher I saw the price going. Finally she gave me the price: $5.00 each. Being a veteran yard saler I of course had to to counter with a lesser price. After much back and forth between us I finally ended up buying all five with some extra clothing for $15.00.

You would think I would have ran home and listed them right away. But no. They sat in my garage for a couple months. I couldn't decide if I wanted to list them separate or as a lot. Also, a few of the dolls had some issues.

This doll had the dreaded green ears. Apparently on some of these dolls when the earrings are left on the metal in them cause the ear area on these dolls to turn green.

A week ago I finally decided to list them as a lot including the above Barbie, two Midge bubble cut Barbies, a slightly newer Barbie, and a Skipper doll. I took pictures of all the issues the dolls had. My starting bid was $40.00 and the first day I got a bid. I also got 15 watchers. My listing was set to close on Saturday afternoon. On Friday night when I went to bed I had 55 watchers and 7 total bids with the highest bid being $75.55. Not as high as I was expecting but I knew I still had most of the next day to go.

On Saturday morning when I awoke I ran to my phone to see if I had received any more bids. I had!! My dolls were at $199.00. I almost fell over. They had surpassed my expectations. But the story doesn't end there. By the time my listing closed I had 70 watchers, 25 bids, and I had sold my Vintage Barbies for $306.89. And the best part about it was the buyer paid right away!

Now I will admit I know nothing about vintage Barbies and who knows if I could have received more if I had listed them differently. But for a $15.00 investment I am ecstatic about my $306.89 sale.

So even though I probably don't need to tell you, be on the look out for vintage Barbies.

eBay Sales

This past week hasn't been a good sales week on eBay for me. But I'm happy with any sale I get. Extra money always helps.

I sold 3 Cabbage Patch Kids outfits I bought at a garage sales. I spent $3 on a doll and several outfits. I sold 3 of the outfits for $16.00.I'm keeping the doll for sentimental reasons.

I bought a pair of Rock & Republic jeans a few weeks ago for $5.00 and finally got them listed. They sold auction for $20.00. I had 20 watchers on this listing and only ended up getting one bid. Can someone please explain watchers to me?!?! Do they frustrate anyone else?

A couple weeks ago I purchased 2 big boxes of Burger King kids meal toys for $3.00. I sold my first lot of toys for $7.00. I have to finish going thru the boxes and separating them by character.

I picked up a Hanna Andersson fleece jacket a couple months ago at a garage sale for $1.00. I listed it auction and had no bidders. Then I listed it BIN and right when my listing was going to expire it sold!!!

Last weekend I found 3 snow suits at a garage sale for $1.00. I listed 2 of them so far and one sold yesterday for $20.00. It's on it's way to New York.

And my final sale, I purchased a Bebe pair of jeans at a Goodwilll store for $4.00. It sold right after I listed it for $25.00. It still had the tags on it. I might have been able to get more but I know nothing about this brand and will admit I was too busy to research it. But I am more then happy with my $21.00 profit.

I guess now that I listed my sales I did have a good week. I just didn't have any big ticket items.

Hopefully eBay sales are picking up for everyone else.

What To Sell On eBay

I'm 27 years old. Or at least that's what I claim to be. Why 27? I'm not sure. But that seems like a good age and I think I will stay there for a while.

Now even thought I'm 27 I will admit I was part of the Cabbage Patch Kids crazy in the early 80's (don't try to do the math. Just go with it). I had to have one those dolls!! Of course so did every other child in America. I begged for one. I pleaded. I bargained. I threatened. I did everything humanly possible at my young age to get one of those dolls. And I finally did. I don't even want to imagine how much it cost my parents. When I finally got that doll in my hands I think I heard music, angels singing. It was a dream come true. She went everywhere with me. I loved that doll.

Recently I went to a garage sale with my mom and she spotted a Cabbage Patch doll that looked just like the one I had growing up. I inquired about the price. Only $3.00 with a bag full of clothes. That seemed like a great deal to relive my childhood. On a whim I looked the doll up on eBay. They appear to do ok. Some better then others without rhyme or reason. So I decided to keep her for my Princess.

But then I decided to look to see how well the clothes are selling. I was surprised to see that they sell better then the actual dolls sometimes. Especially actual CPK clothes (there are other doll clothes that will fit these dolls that weren't originally marketed for them). I looked through the bag of clothes and was disappointed that most of the outfits were too small to fit the doll. Out of the entire bag full there were only 3 actual Cabbage Patch outfits. I took some pictures and listed them earlier last week. The three outfits sold for $16.00 total. Not bad for a $3.00 investment. And I still have the doll for my Princess to play with.

I don't know about your area but around beautiful Salinas I see CPK dolls and clothing for sale all the time. They usually sell a bag full of clothes for a couple dollars. I would always pass them up without a second look. But I can assure you from now on that's going to be on list of things to look for to sell on eBay.

eBay Sales

So last week I pushed myself to get more stuff listed. If it's not listed it can't sell. I guess having more stuff listed really worked because I sold several items.

Flounder sold. I bought this costume several weeks ago. He was listed BIN for about 2 1/2 weeks. I bought him for $3.00 and sold him for $60. Gotta love Little Mermaid!!

I sold a Robosapien robot I bought several weeks ago. This I listed auction. I only got one bid. Bought it for $10 and he sold for $35. I'm happy with that.

I bought an American Girl dress for $0.50 and it sold for $11.00. This is a child's dress not a doll dress. I didn't even know they made real clothing.

I bought a girls Gap winter jacket several weeks ago for $1.00. Sold for $22 BIN.

Finally sold the last of the Kiddle dolls I bought the same weekend as Flounder. Paid $2 for 3 of these vintage dolls. They sold for a total of $33.

I sold a Wilton wizard cake pan I picked up at a garage sale for $2 for $25. I'm still amazed people actually bake. I really need to turn on my oven one of these days.

My favorite item sold was a model for an airport I found at a church sale two weeks ago. It was sealed in the box so I wasn't sure it was complete. For $2 I took a chance. It was complete! I took a $75 best offer on it.

This was my best sales week since I started eBaying again. So the moral to this story is ... List more!!!
